ABS CBN NEWS: Solons call for lower airline fares, power rates

MANILA – Bayan Muna party-list Rep. Neri Colmenares is going after high airline fares in this peak travel season.

During the minority's regular press conference, Colmenares criticized high air fares despite the drop in prices of fuel.

In fact, tumataas pa so dapat imbestigahan ng Kongreso and we will push for a very serious investigation of the airlines who refuse to lower the plane fares despite the substantial decrease in world prices and in spite of the dismal services nila," the lawmaker said.

Colmenares wants the investigation when Congress resumes sessions in January 2015.

"So imbestigahan ‘yan sa Enero itong mga airlines na palaging delayed, na palaging hindi nagbibigay ng tamang serbisyo pero napakataas pa rin ng presyo ng pamasahe sa eroplano kahit bumaba na ng 40 percent ang world prices sa gasoline," he said.

LPG Marketer's Association Rep. Arnel Ty, meanwhile, reiterated his previous call for a rollback in the prices of electricity and basic commodities.

So we are urging DTI to continue for the call to pagbaba ng mga presyo,” he said.
