ABS CBN NEWS: Congress urged to probe airline fees

MANILA -- Bayan Muna Rep. Neri Colmenares is going pricey airline fees during peak travel season.

In a House minority press conference, Colmenares said airline fees remain high despite fuel prices going down.

"40% na ang ibinagsak ng world market sa presyo. Bumaba na ang pamasahe sa jeepney at sa iba pa peo yung airline na pamasahe ay hindi pa binababa. In fact, tumataas pa so dapat imbestigahan ng Kongreso and we will push for a very serious investigation of the airlines who refuse to lower the plane fares despite the substantial decrease in world prices and in spite of the dismal services nila," he added.

Colmenares wants the investigation to start when the lower House sessions resume in January.

Meanwhile, LPG Marketer's Association partylist Rep. Arnel Ty reiterated his previous call for a rollback in the prices of electricity and basic commodities.

"Malaking bagay din ang pagbaba ng presyo ng petrolyo dahil ito 'yung historical draft ng world market ngayon ito 'yung presyo natin ngayon is price of 2004 or 2005 level, so 40% malaki po 'yan so ang goods ay affected po ng pagbaba na ito, mapa-bakal 'yan o kung anuman basic commodities ang ating ginagamit sa ngayon ay may effect po 'yan, so we are urging DTI to continue for the call to pagbaba ng mga presyo."
